Dr. Achuthsankar S. Nair is a scholar and author with a deep passion for connecting disciplines and inspiring others through education, research, and storytelling. With over three decades of experience in academia, he has served as Senior Professor of Computer Science and Head of the Department of Bioinformatics at the University of Kerala, and as Director of C-DIT, Government of Kerala. He has also had the privilege of teaching as a visiting professor in South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. Dr. Nair’s academic journey includes two PhDs—one in Engineering and the other in Music—a reflection of his belief in the seamless integration of science and the arts. He has authored 20 books in English and Malayalam, ranging from Swathi Thirunal to the novel Tharipp, which weaves science, history, and human emotion into a compelling narrative. His recent works also include Python: A Pedagogic Introduction and Campus Politics: Don’t Be Silent, Don’t Be Violent. As an educator, Dr. Nair has guided over 30 scholars to their PhDs and has contributed to initiatives like the Credit Transfer System for international students at the University of Kerala. Beyond the classroom, he is involved in promoting science and heritage awareness as the State President of Sastra Vedhi.
